Default Rio Smallmouth vs Orvis Smallmouth line

Good Evening,

Anyone have any experience with either of these lines? Thinking of getting one or the other in 6 wt for smallmouth fishing medium to small rivers.
Direct comparison would be great.

I really like Rio lines, but I've heard bad reviews about their Smallmouth line. Had an original Orvis Wonderline...wondered why I bought it. The new Orvis lines seem to be great though. I've just got and tested out a new SA Textured Magnum Taper line on my smallie rod and WOW this line is sweet.

Thanks Attila
I have talked to a couple of people at the LFS.
Guy that works there said the Rio SM line is great.
Guy that buys stuff there said it was not great fair at best. Said cast ok but didn't float so well.

Kwb
Is this the line that I heard makes a lot of noise going thru the guides?
Or do I have it confused with another line?
What do you like about the line?
Anything that could be better?

Just looked at SA description.
How does it hold up in the heat?
(probably not a concern for D.Dan but down here about July the lines can get well past al dente)

It makes noise but I don't think it's as bad as sharkskin line. I haven't used it yet in the heat but so far it's great.

Have to see if I can find one to try.
head looks somewhat like Rio Grande which I had thought about but I was worried would get a little limp in the heat.

I like Orvis rod and reel products but I stay away from Orvis fly lines, I tried some of them and ended up returning them. I am only using Rio and think Rio is making some good lines. I was considering the Rio Bass line but then decided to go with the Rio Outbound Short floating with polyleaders.

i have the Rio SM line on 2 reels and love it!! i actually pick it over the S.A. titan taper line( which i bought first). the Rio SM line casts great and can really turn over big bugs.

I just bought the Rio sm in 6wt. Plan on trying it soon as it arrives. I'll let you know what I think. It's still to early in NJ for smallmouth, so I'll just mess around seeing how it cast's.
