Default Curly line problem

HELP...!

Relatively new flyfisher, and I received some well-meaning gifts of cheap fly line for Christmas gifts....very curlly...!
Anyone know a simple way to get the curls out, and increase the limpness....??

Try stretching the line with your hands... just pull it quite hard in sections as you wind it back on to the reel. You could also try some lubricant to make it more soft. Its probably been on a spool for some time so you could try unwinding it and putting it in warm place to let the memory fall out.

good luck!

You may have a warm water line in a cold climate. If so, then you will need to purchase a cold water line.

However, try this; when you get to your stream or boat launch, strip off some line and loop it over your trailer hitch or outside rear view mirror and back away from the car stripping line as you go. When you have out more line than you can cast, pull both ends and stretch your line until the kinks are gone. Hopefully that will take care of your problem.
