I recall Lefty K being specific about winding the thread around the leg of the bobbin 3 times- not two, not four- when you whip loops that way. This always gives the proper tension to bite the flyline without breaking the thread.
I guess.. as long as your bobbin is adjusted the same as Lefty's.. and you're using the same thread.. etc.
