Okuma 5/6 SLV and 5/6 Vashon

I use these fly reels and wonder if I can use a 7 weight fly rod and line with either one of these reels? Also has anyone used the Brunsell Lil Streamer rod? I ordered a 5wt 5 foot for fishing spring creeks in NE Iowa and would like to know what would be a good fly line. I'm making my own 48 inch leaders and have read one review that recommended SA headstart. Thanks, Johng
