Default Stocker Rainbow Pike Fly

What do you guys use to imitate a stocker rainbow? I'm going to make a few trips this spring for pike in Colorado, so here's my first try. Thoughts?

Only one real way to find out. Get it wet and let the fish decide. Looks like you'll catch some fish on it though.

Check out the fly called the "Swimming Jimmy" or the T&A Bunker. One was tied by Galloup, and the Jimmy was tied by a guy that was trying to improve on Galloups pattern. Both will immitate stocker bows.

Another fly that will imitate a stocker bow would be Thomas Harveys "Trophy Wife".

There are a slough of guys out there designing streamers right now. Some great ones, and some really doggy ones. The best advice I could give you would be to try your fly out. Look at how it swims, what kind of action it imparts, and how fish react to it. Do they tend to chase it off? Do they strike it with vigor? Use what you see and feel your fly doing to improve on what you've got right now. If you ask anyone that has designed a successful streamer before what the most important thing in the design is... 9 out of 10 of them would tell you that testing is the most critical phase of a fly being developed. The first version will very rarely, if ever, be exactly what you want. You can only take what knowledge that you gain from fishing it and improve off of the basic idea you've got there.
