Level of tying experience needed to tie this pattern Beginner, a fairly simple pattern using basic tying skills
Materials listed in order of tie in:
Hook Scud or standard hook Tiemco 100 size 12 here
Weight 8-10 wraps of .015 Lead-free Wire
Thread Olive 6/0
Tail and forward appendages Olive Marabou Tips
Shellback Holographic Pearl Mylar
Rib Clear Mono 3X tippet
Body Homemade olive "lint trap" dubbing
Legs teased out dubbing
Head Thread
Special tying notes Tie in marabou tips at rear and over eye. Tie in shellback at rear of hook and leave extending out off back of hook. Tie in Rib. Dub Body, pull over "shellback" and tie down, lock in place with mono rib.
Target species Trout
Fishing notes Excellent imitation for sowbug and scuds. Great for nutirent rich tailwaters, spring creeks, ponds and lakes where sowbugs and scuds are found.

With the tail trimmed to about half the length shown, this fly pattern rocked on the lake last fall. Cast it out, let it settle to near the bottom, tug it about 6 inches, let it drift down, then repeat.
