The rod is made out of steel, it has a red color but the paint is wearing off. The rod measures a little over 3 feet collapsed and about 7.5 feet extended.it telescopes in and out The handle is made of cork and is a little dirty from use, but in good shape. The reel is made by Union Hardware Co. It still cranks when you reel it, I believe it is in working shape. The slider button that turns off the cranking and opens up the reel works as well (sorry unsure of part name). If I had to guess an age for this it would be around the turn of the century (1890-1920s). It is in extremely good shape.
any info would help

I think you'll fined that the rod is a Union Hardware also
They made a lot of steel rods in Torrington Ct between 1910-1930
There's almost no collector value with either piece
$30-$50 tops... for the pair
