That's a nice one for sure. Depending on what you are willing to put into a rod the field is wide open. I might be inclined to begin looking for an old Hardy Graphite from the 1981 - 83 models. They are medium action rods and were made in 7'6" and generally can be had at reasonable cost. Most will come from the UK so there is a shipping expense to weigh into the choices. I know a dealer over there who gets them time and again if you want I'll put you in touch with him.

Are you considering glass? There are some fantastic options out there in your price range. The new Orvis 7'6" 4wt is a gem if you are looking towards a factory rod. Of course there are a lot of other fantastic small shop offerings out there too...

Totally in love with it so far. It's absurdly light, probably too light for my rod (which is saying a lot, as the rod is very light as well). I've caught four fish so far on this setup, but none large enough to test the drag yet. Chasing some small tarpon early next week... that should give it a run for it's money
