I am posting this cool image less for my own Reel Love than for the many of you who still admire these rugged work horse Akron, Ohio-built classics.

Thanks S&S !
I appreciate the post. It evoked some great memories. I'm looking for a 1492 right now to put on 6' bamboo I'm rebuilding. They were great little reels

Jay, the only thing that would make those pictures better would be to have your hand crafted fly box next to the other tackle.

Hubby has had one for years and I always loved this reel so I finally bought one. Will be here tomorrow. Going to make my Hardy Test most bodacious! :-)

I probly posted this one up when I bought it, but dug out all my poles n reels today and gave em a good cleaning. In doin so I thought " that real just looks good on that seat. "
Might only be a $30 reel but does really nice for what I need it for. Click the image to open in full size.

My old Orvis Madison isn't much to look at, but its served me well for many years. Loaded it with some new S/A GPX this winter and I put in some practice over the weekend.

Figured I would throw mine in, Orvis Battenkill Disc 5/6... Not on my reel as I was just talking with Orvis tech support as I couldnt tell which way it was setup (LH or RH retrieve), ends up it was correct for LH retrieve but missing the clicker pawl spring.
