Herman Voss Spool & drag disc on cheap Japan 1495 1/2.

Been looking for one of these aftermarket Medalist Spool and drag disc for years. Spotted it on Ebay week before last. I 'stole' it for $46 but was willing to bid far far far higher.

I've only seen a few in my many years. The reel under these is a POS Japan Medalist. But will be upgrading a better vintage 1495 1/2 with the spool & drag along with M Pfoot reel seat, spool cover and SS Screws.

Will post pick of finished reel when done.

That's one very sexy looking medalist even if it is a overseas frame... How much weight does that solid spool add?

Seems like aprox 2oz.; 8.50z for std and 10.5oz with spool. These are my weights on filled reels.

I know that it isn't a technologically advanced reel, but I really like the appearance, simplicity, and light weight of the Sage Click I on my custom Sage TXL 000wt.

On the other end of the spectrum, I have my light saltwater stick - an Orvis Helios 8wt donning a Bauer JM3 to to target the surf on the western Florida shores.
