I actually like the weight of my #3N, it's mounted to my S4 956. It keeps the rod a little butt heavy but I like it because it's easier to keep the tip up while Nymphing with the extra weight down low, and do it for 10hrs with out any fatugue and since this is my steelhead rod the extra backing is a plus. My #3N A/R mounted to my S4 8wt is a perfect reel, I have a Rio OB I/S6 and with the line out it balances pretty nice, with all the line on the reel its realy butt heavy but who fishes with the line on the reel. I never realized the Super 7 shared the same frame as the 6 and #3N, looks like I'll be buying a Super 7 some time in the future, or atleast a spool.

It doesn't. It is the same diameter. The Super 7 is wider than a Super 6.

Your right..... I just looked at the Abel reel spec sheet and the 7 is the same width as the Super 9 and 11.

Got the new Super 11 Atlantic Salmon print in yesterday, what a beautifull reel. I thought this would be the biggest my Abel family would get but as fate would have it yet another Super 11 in blue/black print found it's way in to my heart(and I have a 10wt rod in need of a mate) and I was forced to take it in. I'll have pics of that one next week but for now here's my newest aquisition plus a family photo.

That Atlantic Salmon print sure is pretty. And the stable of Abels you have amassed!

Beautiful.

Thanks Jay, I'v been consolidating my large rod/reel collection into a smaller higher quality collection. All in all I haven't had to spend too much to get what I have, I went from having 20 or so realy high end bass gear rigs(which cost about half of what a high quality fly rod/reel cost) and a bunch(13 I think) of mid grade fly rods down to a few spinning rods, three casting rods, 10 realy nice fly rods(mostly scott rods/a few tfo), one bamboo banty rod and a few of my original fly rods from about 18 years ago. Finding deals on Ebay helped me get the what I have now, or else I would never be able to have aquired so many Abels in such a short time. I'm realy happy with the collection I have now and don't see myself selling or upgrading anytime soon.-Joe

Just got my TFO BVK -0- a couple days ago, picture doesn't do it justice. Mounted on my (also new) TFO Finesse 7'3" 2wt. Very light, small and sexy reel. Loaded with SA Mastery WF2F line and some Cortland yellow backing.

Picked up another Hatch Finatic Reel...these are reel works of art. Completely sealed drag and the heel/foot of the reel is not attached via screws...one solid piece of aluminum.
Hatch reels are a little heavy. This is the 5+ paired with my Helios 9' 7wt tip flex.
