I know this is reel love, but I have a bag fetish too (okay, stop snickering). What is that nice (waxed canvass?) bag pictured with the reel?

That is Ard's beloved Filson strap vest.

Thanks. I thought Filson, but something about it seemed off to me.

Hi Casey,

That ones in great shape, I used a St. Aidan for years on graphite 9', 7 weight rods and my 8.5' bamboo salmon rod. They have a good strong check and you're gonna love that one I figure. if you fill that with backing until it is half way across the second set of port holes in the spool it'll hold either an 8 or a 7 weight line just right.

very nice condition that one, did you get the case, and if so which color, it helps in dating the reel.

Ard

They reconditioned that for me a few years back and it's still in service. If this warm weather holds out I'll be wearing that next week again.

Great first Hardy, that would look good on an older IM6 9' 7wt Winston.

Casey that's a gem of a reel you picked up there, congratulations! It's in excellent condition! My guess is you will have plenty of good years fishing with it, I hope you love it. If you end up needing or wanting to have some replacement springs or pawls on hand, contact Hardy USA. They can send you out an A-Pack for a small fee.

Some day, a St. Aidan may find it's way to my doorstep.
