Default Old Reel identification

Anyone have any idea the model/make of this fly reel? The Orvis mid arbor reel in the pic is just for a size comparison. This was my grandfathers reel who has since passed and I can't find anything online through searches. The reel has "Japan" and a "T" stamped on the underside of the reel foot. Thanks for any help.

Rip Tide will be your man for the real answer but............... it looks like a copy of a Medalist 1495. Rip will know,

I'm going to say it's a Horrocks & Ibbitson
They sold that exact model as their own but as it was imported and it has no other identifying marks, it really could have been sold by anyone

Edit..... I'm thinking Herter's sold them too, that might even be a better guess

As Ard said, It's really just a Medalist knock-off
