Default Hardy Cascapedia Questions

Would a 8/9 be too heavy for a 7wt rod? Prefer having the advantage of being able to use this reel for a possible heavier rod 8/9 in the future but don't want to plan for the future if it is too heavy to use in the present with a 7wt.

Question 2
Are there any particular year models that I should shy away from and conversely year dates that are better than others I should be concentrating on finding?

Dave

Since they are on the heavy side I would say yes. The exception might be Bamboo or Spey which is what they are really made to match up with. They'll balance OK with most compatible 9' or longer graphites. But when you get into 8' or shorter graphite sticks they tend to be a bit heavy.

As far as year models, the British made ones obviously hold more resale value. OTOH, you can get some great deals on the Korean made ones since they changed over models last fall. If you can find a "Brunswick model" (limited edition from 2001) this is a reproduction of the originals, they are worth big bucks. At $1500 they are a bargain.
