Default Hardy Bougle Mk VI

Does anyone have any experience with this reel? I'm looking at one at my local Fly Shop; a 3" model, for fishing with my 3 wts. I like the raised pillar design, but know nothing about the reel; functionality, drag, dependability, etc.

Thanks,

Pocono

This one is up Ard's alley.

My only reply is that it's hard to beat the dependability of a Hardy reel.

Allan,

Never owned or fished with one of them but have handled them. The word smooth comes to mind when I think of the reel. Could be a bit on the heavy but the trade off in the function may be well worth the extra couple ounces. Keep us posted if you buy or use one.

Thanks Ard,

The little Bougle (3") weighs 3.6 oz; my Featherlight weighs 3.4 oz. So, not a whole lot of difference there; in fact, for me, I'm certain that the difference is numerical only, I'll never notice the difference in 0.2 oz.

I'm going to try it on a rod this weekend; probably a 7'6" 3 wt., and see how I like it. If I purchase it, I'll post a pic.

Allan
