Hi Ouimby,

Welcome to the forum, could you provide a photo without the glare on the center hub and include a shot of the back of the spool clearly showing the gear cog? This may help > http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/fo...tml#post428183

The spool has a look as though it were designed after the Orvis CFO series. It looks like a marryat spool but a clearer picture would allow that I would say that for sure. The latch is the key to identify this reel, if it is a Marryat then you will need to take the diameter & width of the spool to determine which reel it will fit.

I hope you'll stick around and post a bit about your area, the only Quimby Pond I know is in Maine.

Marryat,

I would send those pictures along with the dimensions to the Marryat Reel Co. and ask which reel it is from.

Thanks for all the help. By the way..... I came accross a guy on craigslist selling "an old fishing reel". Curiosity got the better of me, so I emailed him for more info. He sent a picture.
The reel was a McVickers and Sons Bushkill Trout.
After driving 20 miles at 90mph, I gave the guy the $20 he was asking and went home.
The best part is that all the original paperwork was with the reel. The manual, order blank, and note card explaining the two different sizes of "feet" available.
I've never come across this stuff before, so I thought maybe you, and the reel addicts here, might be interested in seeing it. Or maybe this stuff is more common than I think, and no one will care.....

I Have a Marryat CMR 34,The Spool looks identical however The Dimensions are 2 11/16 X 3/4 inches so it looks as it's for The next larger size Reel or another model.
