Default 4/5 moderate action rod paired with 5/6 reel?

Will this work? Am I mismatching the rod and reel combo?
I figured I could find good advice here.
Thanks
Alex

Should be no problem at all.

If the rod & reel balance out to your liking and hold the correct amount of backing and your desired fly line, how can it be wrong?

I have a 4/5 Alright rod. It is fine with a with a Allen Alpha 5-6 wt reel, with 6 wt line. (for me) Try it, and if you don't like it, put the reel on something else. I think actually for my Albright GP rod, a 5-6 wt reel and line feels better on that rod. I used a Martin 61 on this rod, and it is just fine, but the reel foot stuck in the reel seat, once it was locked down. I got it out though. I will have to remember not to lock that reel down to hard, on that rod. I hope this helps a little.

as long as the reel isn't too heavy it should work fine.

I think way to much is made of how a reel balances a single hand rod. It is really hard to get a reel so out of whack with a rod it would be a problem. Maybe putting a reel for a 10 wt. on a 5 wt. rod. But one size either way is not going to be a problem.

Great responses. Thanks for taking the time to help. I was also thinking of spooling a 6 wt line on it for In close combat.
