Sage Response 697 and SA Systems 2LA 678?

Hi guys, I am brand new to fly fishing. My wife bought me a Sage Response 697 for Christmas and I am wondering about pairing it with an SA Systems 2LA 678 reel.

My question is how do I know if it is balanced well?

I am in western WA and fish mostly for trout and salmon. What are your thoughts on this set-up, and on the gear itself?

Thanks

It will make a great trout and lighter Steelhead rig. It is very light for salmon.

What the hell's a Response?
Nevermind. Sage. That says it all........
Sages rod models are like my nieces and nephews. Too damn many of them to keep track of. Shoulda just numbered them from the beginning. The Response would be model #6,598,411.

I hear you Mojo....Probably why I couldn't find much info on the rod when I Googled it!
