Default Anyone know anything about this old reel?

I found this old reel in the bottom of Slough Creek (third meadow) two years ago. The only marking on it is "Pat Oct 16 23" which refers to a patent from 1923. The reel is pretty beat up and full of rocks. Still cool to think of how it might have gotten there and how long it has been there. Anyone recognize it?

Is that a palming rim, or just part of the frame?

That's cool! Great finding old stuff like that! As for why you found it in the river, guy probably wasn't catching and got disgusted back in the 20s and gave it a toss! Or he wanted to see if it would float !
