If it's made in the U.S.A., I'm interested.

Hi Everyone,

We just got back from testing the Omega in WA for Pinks. Next is the Mako Shark. Now that the patent paper work is filed, I'd like to show you the first prototype. There will be some small changes when we release. (Color is not decided on yet)

The objective of the reel is first to have it made in the USA (Detroit, MI) to further extend our brand in the industry. However, the focus was to offer something that's versatile in other weights. The drag system has 5 carbon disks allowing it to be used for all sizes..

The drag section is separate and attached to the frame. This will also give it a financial advantage to the consumer. Lets say you purchase a #3 at the MSRP. However, you need a #4 for another trip. You would just need to purchase the spool and frame at 1/2 the cost of the reel then insert the drag system. Also, its norm that spare spools are 1/2 the price of the reel. We will be offering spare spools for less than 1/2 the price of the reel as well.

The spool is v-shaped as well. The Alpha is a key reel for us and it just made sense to name this reel the Omega. Here is a photo of the drag and frame section.

Thanks and will post more soon

Congrats on your progress! Hope it turns out fantastic for your company. Glad to see the commitment to having it made in the US. It's funny, my bias to US made fly fishing gear. My car is German, the pants I'm wearing are made in the far east, most of my shoes except my fine dress shoes are the same. But for things like flyfishing gear, I want made in the US. Go figure...

Again, congrats and well wishes as you continue to move forward.

Cheers,
Mike.

A stacked disc drag module, great! What kind of spool width to depth ratio are you experimenting with?

We are working with a few sizes. This is what we feel has the best match.

#3 7/8 - 4" reel dia with a spool width of 1.25"

#4 9/10 - 4.25" reel dia with a spool width of 1.37"

#5 12/14 - 4.6" reel dia with a spool with of 1.37"

The #2 is being figured out now. The spool width on the #3 and #4 is wider than the Alpha, but smaller than the Kraken. We hope we found the sweet spot. The Omega does have a slightly larger dia of the Kraken to offset the line capacity.

Thanks

Justin

Here's another photo of the spool cutting. We took the Alpha and made it into a V-Shaped spool.
