Default Nautilus FWX 7/8

In another thread, which i couldn't find, i commented that i had matched a FWX 7/8 with TFO BVK 8 wt as bonefishing rod.

A couple of people asked what i though of the FWX and i said that honestly was not impressed with start up inertia, and the fact that the retrieve resistance also changed with the drag and the non-linearity of the drag.

Well i sent it back to nautilus with the explanation that i just didn't feel right/good enough for a $300 reel. I followed up with a phone call to after they had my reel for a while, the guy i spoke to was excellent, he said the reel had been 'fixed', he didn't do it personally so wasn't sure what had been done. However he said he would go find it and personally test it to ensure it was 100% before being returned to me. The reel arrived back to me 2 days later, and its a completely different beast. It feels like a great reel now, i think i'll buy another in 5/6 for trout.

Sorry for starting a new thread about this, i just didn't want to bad mouth a company/their product then not put it right after they dealt with it.

Default Re: Nautilus FWX 7/8

Always good to have a positive personalized experience with a tackle company. I now have 3 Nautilus reels the FWX in 5/6 and 7/8 which see freshwater use and an NV used bonefishing. All 3 have proven flawless and a joy to fish. In fact, in the under $300 large arbor reels with drags currently on the market I have really only been comfortable recommending two until recently; the FWX and Hardy Ultralite DD. This season I have added a Galvan Torque and my initial experiences have been very positive.
