That is a nice discount from retail. Post a review after use, this reel always intrigued me as it didn't seem to fit a niche.

I found it odd for Ross to market a reel that could stop a freight train, ultra hi tech, but heavy and expensive when compared to other reels in the "trout" category. I would be real interested to hear your thoughts after you use it.

One thing I can tell you now is this reel is not heavy.I was amazed how light in hand it is.

I guess I meant to say heavy in relative term. 5.5oz is light, but compared to the popular reels in the ranges I fish i.e. 3wt to 6wt

They are certainly beautiful works of art, I fondled one many times, just couldn't pull the trigger. At the price you paid I would have been WAAAAAAAAYYYY more tempted.

I too am curios about this reel. It has gotten zero coverage in our Forum despite the popularity of Ross Reels. It features an unusual drag design...well, no two Ross Reels have the same drag design which is something I'd expect stabelmate Abel to be working on with them. Did the shop indicate why the reel was discounted?

The F1 is a fine reel to say the least. I have the 1.5 I use on my 4wt when fishing bigger than normal water, otherwise I use my Hardy 2000CC. Great reel, little heavy but super drags system, and looks way cool.

Cheers,
Craig

Thumbs up Re: ross f1

It's a small shop in Colorado,he sells primarily ross reels and decided when he opened his store about 2 years ago to put in this f1,it never sold so he was having a sale at the store with 40% off this reel.List $550.00,sale price 330.00.
