Default Rare New 'ORIGINAL' Teton Classic Fly Reel

Tonight I started going though some draws to figure out space for fly tying and rod building material, components and tools. In doing so I found a beautiful Original Bronze Teton Classic Fly Reel that I purchased years ago directly from Teton along with an extra spool all in its original box with the warranty and owners manual and it has never even been on a rod. This reel looks so much better IMO then the ones being sold by Cabelas now. I wish my photography skills and camera were better.

I may just decide to sell this baby, I haven't made up my mind yet.

According to the Teton website, Teton does not have any spare parts for the older reels, so the warranty may be bust. Keep that in mind for yourself or for the person who you may sell that to.

MP: Thanks for the heads up, but I just got done reading the web site and actually this is what it says under the heading Support.

"While the company that produced Teton Reels prior to 2010 is no longer in business, Teton USA is commited to helping support all reels that bear the Teton name. To that end, we are pleased to announce a service and repair partnership with W.J. Senecal Company for many of the reels manufactured by the old Teton Fly Reels, Inc. As an established manufacturer’s representative with years of service and support experience behind the previous line of Teton reels, they may have just the parts and expertise required to get your old reel running smoothly again. For information regarding parts and repair service on any of the discontinued Teton reels (including the Tioga, Trinity, Magnum and Specialist series reels) please contact WJ Senecal using the service request form below. This form is for service requests only, and will be send directly to the repair tech who will review your repair needs and contact you directly."

I have contacted WJ Senecal to ensure that should I sell the reel it will be able to be repaired.

This is cool the warranty is still in affect. I hope if anyone else reading this has any of the older Teton reels that this helps. The following is the reply I received from WJ Senecal.

"Please see attached. Yes I have parts and service reels. Thanks Bill
W J Senecal Co

Teton USA has forwarded your recent request for reel repair service to our company, W J Senecal Co. Our company is the Teton USA Authorized Repair Center for the older style Teton reel products, which were made by the former Teton Reel Company of San Andreas, CA.

W J Senecal Co was the first Manufactures Representative for the original Teton Reel Co. We have been fishing and servicing Teton products for over 15 years. Many of the reels have been fished in both fresh and saltwater over 100 days with very little service required. Over these years we have seen and repaired most items that can go wrong with these well designed reels.

All standard repairs will be disassembled, cleaned, minor worn parts replaced, lubricated and reassembled. The drag system, and spool attachment will be adjusted to the original factory specifications. Attached is a repair form listing the most typical repair charges. This form must be completed and included with your damaged reel. Please remove the fly line and backing to avoid damage during cleaning.

Special damages, such as a stuck spool, missing parts, and minor bent frames and spools will require additional fees as noted. You will be contacted by email before these additional repairs are made. If you do not consent to the additional charges, your reel and payment will be returned to you, minus a $5.00 return postage fee. Please allow 2 - 3 weeks for repaired reel return. We also accept Pay pal, account oldflyrep@comcast.net.

Every possible effort will be made to insure that you have a fully fishable reel that you are proud to own.

Tight Lines,

Bill Senecal

Subject: Teton Classic 5

I hope you do not mind me contacting you for just a question. I have an old Teton Classic 5 that has never been used and is in perfect condition, but I am if you all the parts parts that could possibly brake should at some time it require repair as I have friend who wants to purchase the reel only if it will be able to be repaired should it ever have need. Tom,
That's good to know. I have referred people to Bill Archuleta up in Grants Pass, Oregon, for work. He has the means to make parts to original specs. Of course he will charge a premium for his service which is quite good.
