Default PHW automatic reels

I thought it might be time to start a new thread on this.
Our local club (the Carolina Fly Fishing Club) last night approved $500.00 to go toward getting some Vivarelli automatic reels for the Project Healing Waters soldiers. They are the reel of choice for those with limited abilities for fly fishing.
We're still ironing out the details but will soon have made a good start to add to the kitty that Pocono and hopefully, members of this board will add to.

Hi Jackster,

I have been working with Pocono on starting a new thread and it should be up later today. Pocono has agreed to be a single point of collection for any donations. It is great that your club is donating to this very deserving cause. Maybe other NAFFF Members who belong to a club can get their club to donate something. Any organization that makes a donation will be honored as a sponsor. More later in the new thread.

Frank

When I saw this, the first thing that came to mind was wondering if this system could be used by some of our warrior heroes.

It can and is. The preferred reel is the Vivarelli which is the brand Pocono is working on getting.

Sorry, stupid me. I had intended to include this link -

Tenkara USA

As it turns out, I had contacted the Project Healing Waters folks about it, and they said since it didn't appear to be fly fishing as we currently know it, it wouldn't be appropriate.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Hi if Pocono collects money or reels I'm going to try and find a second hand one and send it...
