Exclamation Drag ? For Lamson Velocity I

Hi,
Just got a new reel....the drag, on the "loosest" end of the spectrum, still seems very tight compared to my Orvis Battenkill.

I'd read about free floating settings for light tippets etc....and can't believe that this is a close to free-spooling as this reel will get.
Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks!

Might carefully take the drag assembly out and re-install it. Only thing I can think of is that maybe something is out of position or cross threaded and throwing things off.

If that doesn't fix it, contact the mfg or who you bought it from for a fix/replacement.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

TeddyBallgame09: I agree with Cliff. My Lamson Litespeed drag is as smooth as butter, and yours should be the same.

The velocity reels have had some drag issues. Either they malfunction, are really rough and choppy, or have an incomplete spectrum of the whole drag. A sales rep from cabelas was telling me all this, and I think if you talked to lamson they would send you a new reel.

All set...popped the spool off and back on a couple of times....seems to be looser.

Now....let's see how this baby fishes with its new 3 wt Superfine line!
Thanks for the replies!!!
