Default Re: Bamboo Rod Makers?

Having been through the Pocono Mountains but not having a chance to fish there I would say they are a kind of like the Smokey Mountains down here. If I had to choose one rod to fish with here I would pick a 7 ft. 4 wt. my personal choice would be a "Sir D" based on a Cattanach taper. It has the finesse for fishing drys but has the backbone to make a 50+ foot cast to that big fish on the other side of the river. My second choice would be a Payne 98 or a Dickerson 7012, but there are a lot of other tapers out there that you might like better. Try several rods and see what suits you, the Fly Fishing Show in Somerset, NJ is in January and they probably would have some bamboo rod there.
