Default Z-Axis Blank Seems Stiff

At least stiffer than a factory built Z-Axis in the same length and line weight. Will the additional weight of guides (which I don't have yet) soften the blank's action? It's significantly more stiff than my factory built Z-Axis, which is really a fairly flexy rod. My elbows hurt from a variety of things already, so......

Once you have completed building the rod it will feel different than just a blank. Also builders may alter how the OEM rod is made so as to alter rod feel/performacne.

Hi Hardhat,
I forgot I started this thread. I also forgot that I already own a factory built Z-Axis. After putting the factory tip on the blank sections, the rod came to life! The blank tip section (4-pc) weighs .05oz, and the factory built tip .15oz. Awfully light, and the difference is the same as one dime. I also taped a dime halfway along the blank tip section, and achieved the same effect.

Frank,

Have you thought about trying single foot guides on the blank?
