Hello this is my first mpost on this site. I have a small rodbuilding business in North Idaho in a small town named Sandpoint. This rod was built for an ex student and football pleayer I coached. David went on to the Air Force Academy and played football for them also. He is currently based in Colorado Springs. The blank is a Batson RX6 9' 4pc 5wt. Reel seat is a A7 with a blue/black acrylic insert partially inset into the blue/black carbon hybrid full wells grip. Guides are PacBay chrome SF with a PacBay snake style chrome stripper. Wraps are Cobalt Blue and gray in different configurations. It does have an Air Force theme but not in the same class as Kevin's with the service ribbons.
Well I am little biased, but the Carbon fiber grips from a straight functionality outlook are very hard to beat. They are just as light as cork if not lighter and definetly lighter than burl cork, more rigid therefore more sensitive, more durable and easier to ream and fit then cork. Imake handles out of a lot of different materials for customers;wood, cork, burlcork, birch bark,CF and combinations of materials. When I have customers handle a CF grip majority pick them and in fact have regriped factory rods for return customers with them. Here are some pics of different grips i have done.
