That first picture is Bubinga and birch bark with a moose antler winding check. My finish on all of those types of handles is Tru-oil. Depending on how many coats and how you rub it out you can get anywhere from a high gloss to satin finish. I also core out all my wood grips to reduce weight.

here is a whitetail burr, burl cork and bubinga grip finished in tru-oil

here is another antler zebrawood combo finished with tru-oil

If you are talking about the blanks earlier in the thread I gave Dave's phone and web site and strongly recommend calling him. You can also go to DanCraft and schneider's but you will pay a bit more. If you are talking the grips i build all my own grips for customers.

Huhhh? The St Croix Imperial rods I've seen are solid color brown, a very pretty brown, but brown non the less. The Tiger Eye blanks are like the tiger eye jewelry, mixes of amber, dark brown, gold. Beautiful full depth of a range of the colors.

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to discuss this, but, needing help, I would try explain my problem. I ordered from Sevier a two piece 7/8 blank and charged my credit card $50.50. Since it has been almost three weeks, I emailed Dave twice and tried calling his number several times. I received no answer to any of my efforts. Am I missing something or is this normal?

Sometimes there are delays. Calling is a good idea, especially during the day since he's a small business doing it himself. I've gotten nervous sometimes but he's come through and I love the blanks. He doesn't send a shipping confirmation email so might just show up one day. Try calling again to see if you can get a hold of him in a couple days. If it comes, let us know.

For whatever it is worth, I paid $50.00 or so for an 8 wt blank. I called several times and emailed -- no reply. I got tired of waiting and ignored so I built the rod with TFO blanks. $50.00 loss is not the end of the world but folks should know my experience.
