Glad to hear you are going ahead with the build. I built on and have two blanks waiting. I was my worst critic until others saw the rod.

I used the rotisserie motor from my BBQ grill for a dryer with a homemade rod holder. It worked fine. Also, I built my own thread wrapper from pictures on the internet and a trip to the hardware store. It worked fine.

It was a fun process and there is nothing like catching that first fish on a rod you built and a fly tied by yourself. Since then, I got into making my own leaders - furled and knotted.
