Default Last minute Christmas gift.

After seeing the blue kayak rod I built myself my little brother decided he wanted one too. I figured it would make a great Christmas gift. Only one problem, as of last night at 10 PM I still hadn't even started on it. What I have now is a royal mess. He wants a split rear grip and decorative wraps above the fore grip AND between the rear split grip. This is going to be a long week of late nights, stay tuned to see if I can pull it off.

2:30 this morning and split grip wrap was done. All I need now is grips, reel seat, another dec wrap, some guides and finish.

I love a big family but I can barely keep up with one brother and two teenage sons!

Nah, my work won't be appreciated until I cut off an ear or die an untimely death Just kidding, I'm sure he appreciates ALL the tackle he has "aquired" from my closets over the years.

beautiful work as always
your brother will most certainly be thrilled...
this is probably a boneheaded question, but what is a "split rear grip"?
good luck on the rest of the build.

Thank You and it's not a bonehead question at all. They are popular with guys who use baitcasters. The rear grip looks like this, this wrap will be between the two rear section on the exposed blank
