Ever heard of using birch or spruce burls? I have some giant ones out at the cabin.

I guess he makes some killer custom pool cues. You need to sell your first born to get some of wood though. I can't imagine what the pool cues go for. Seemed like a pretty nice guy on the phone.

Yah I have. Once they are stabilized the Birch should be as tough as anything else.

I couldn't take it long enough to get a fly skeleton seat to turn a block for. I had a spinning seat skeleton and decided to just turn one for that. This is Buckeye Burl. I have trouble getting the colors in photos to come out true to the real thing. Not sure why. This is actually more the color of the block. It does cool stuff as you move it in light. Next step is to tackle doulble dyed stabilizing.
