Default Reel seat insert

I was given a block of birds eye maple and one of curly maple. I am trying to decide which one to use for my insert. Which would y'all use on an old glass rod?

I have both on a lot of my rods,but I would go with the birds eye.

He showed me a block of Black and White Ebony but it is being saved for something special.

The black and white sounds like a impregnated one I would of liked on the 4wt Quickline I just finished flash us a pic after you get it turned and mounted on a blank. tight lines

The birdseye maple is probably a bit more subtle in looks than the curly maple.
