Default Question on (old?ish) Lami 3pc im7 5wt KIT ?

Hello, It's my 1st post today. I've built 3 rods so far mostly surf rods.
But I am a fly fisherman always at heart. I just live in brooklyn, and the
creeks here suck!! ha . Grew up fishing the deschutes in e.oregon, and sure do miss it. Anyways > here's my question. I purchased A rod building kit:
I made my own wooden grip 4 months ago on a lathe, so went hunting for the rest of the pieces. I ended up getting this Lamiglas complete rod building kit.
INFO states IMK 905-3 IM700 3 piece blank, ad all the rest that comes with
like glue, rod finish, guides etc, I'm ditching the seat and handle. On the ad it says retail for 179.00 built 300.00 ? But I'm really really not sure about that?
Said the package was mis marked but re states this is IM700.
I'm having trouble finding any info on this kit or the actual blank.
Any Clues about it or how I can tell the quality of the rod blank. Thanks.
I won it around 90bucks. Just looked today and there's 2 more on that popular buying winning site place. Hey, Thanks for any info you might have on this kit. It looks maybe 15 yrs old or so? I could be wrong.
Have a great season out there!
Pat

Hi Flypaddy,

Welcome to the forum.

Unless this is a very popular kit you might have a problem finding someone who has used it. I know nothing about your kit. You might of had better luck asking what was a good kit before you bought it. For $90 you don't have too much invested. You may want to have a go at it. We have members who build rods and they may be able to give you some information.

Thanks Frank, I wrote Lamiglas and waiting for a reply. I found out a bit more.
and seems I got a good deal the Lami 3pc was a nice accident from the packing dept. Label says 2pc. So still having trouble Id'ing the blank. All guides, thread, finish, and glue are pac bay. Now I use pac bay on my surf rods.
But how are they in the fly rod building world ? I certainly have more reading to do.
I consider myself new to building, I have built a 4 rods and love the process
I'm sure I'll just learn as I go. Wish I found this site 4 rods ago.
Certainly when I'm ready to step up a level in $ and skill. I will write here first for advice. Seems like a great forum.
Happy Castin'

At Mudhole, the 4 pc. IM700 5wt is $158 for the blank alone.
I'd say you got a deal

I have a Lami G1000 (bottom of the line) clearly marked as a 5wt.
I wouldn't fish it with any thing less than 6wt and a 7 might even be better
It's a much older rod though
