Default Cabelas Genesis?

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...457&hasJS=true

umm so i got that a few years ago when i first started out it was an 8wt and i soon discovered that its a wee bit big for trout..haha i mean overkill for trout but anyways if i upgraded the reel to something a little bit nicer do you think it would hold up to bass, maybe 20 to 26 inch walleye and/or an idaho steelie?

i think it should do ok but idk wish i would have know about this forum when i first got it

Take a look at the Lamson Konic 3.5 reel. It has the same drag system as the Litespeed and ULA models. It is just a cast (then machined) reel with not so refined finish. It should set you back $139.

That rod will be fine for bass. Honestly, i dont think you even need to upgrade the reel. I would take it as is and fish! Replace as needed! I have taken bass with 3 weight on drys with no problems.
