Default Orvis Graphite

I juat got a slightly used 9'6" spiral finish fly rod, the tube is voyd of any info. all thats on the rod is Orvis Graphite. It looks like new. how can I tell what weight it is? it has a fighting but that can be removed. Thank you.

Try going to Orvis.com and scroll down the page till you see a box on left side of page that is labeled contact orvis and click on the live chat link. I'm sure they would be your best bet for determining the rods specs.

The old rods were like that. My 1979 7' 9" Far & Fine 5wt only says Orvis Graphite on the shaft. The end cap is where the date and size / weight is stamped. If you have the end cap that goes where the fighting but comes out of it should be stamped, if you don't have it, oh well.............

I would guess that it is a 9' 6" Shooting Star 8 or 9wt.

I though the shooting star was a 2 handed Spey rod.
