Let's hope the wives dont see this thread. My wife said you paid how much...she then said I could buy you a brand new 300 short mag for less than that, I said. OK...

I am on my way to cast the TCX at the shop.
Liphookedau and chi flyfisher like this.

Its FANTASTIC!! I really like that rod ALOT. Last night I was looking at thinking I dont use it nearly enough so I went out and yard cast it for 20 minutes. Oh my.....its such a nice rod. I should have bought the 990-4 demo i found for 300 bucks but I had just bought the 890- Vantage.

I have two: RPL+ 9'6" 8 and 9wts. Never been much of a fan, otherwise.

It doesn't sound too good if the wife wants a 300 Win Mag,I was going to buy one myself, only there are a few things against them however that's another story.
It would be an idea if you signed her up for a Flyfishing Course to get her into Flyfishing so she can appreciate what you are buying.
Brian.

Im with Gary on this one. I have a Sage LL that i just love and a Vantage that i just love but other than that i have never been a huge Sage fan. Their rods have always lacked the feel and soul of some of their competition at least in my hands. I have always liked the offerings from Scott, Winston and perhaps even more especially Orvis

Im probably in the minority on this board though as Sage does seem to have a loyal following

Sage have always been the most intuitive casting tools for me. Whether it's a function of them naturally fitting my casting stroke, or a function of my casting stroke developing around Sage's action I don't know. I just know that for me a Sage just generally feels "right". Moving to different weights and ranges within the line just results in the anticipated and desired change, and never a feeling of unfamiliarity. Anyway, my quiver: SLT 181-3, ZXL 280-4, SLT 376-4, SLT 389-4, Z-Axis 490-4, One 590-4

Ive been infected as well.

8100-4 ONE
796-4 ONE

Waiting for the switch series to hit the shop so I can treat myself to a 11.6 or maybe a Spey to complement. Seriously considering a 586-4 (all in ONE).

I threw an Xi3 8wt for the first time yesterday, and all I can say is wow. Extreme power combined with smoothness and ease of operation allowed me to reach out to 100' after about 15 min. of warmup. All I can say is when I get to Belize and throw the Axiom, it had better perform, or else it goes back in the quiver, and hello Xi3.....
