Default best value 8wt rod and reel?

looking for a fly rod for bass fishing..my 5wt just dosnt throw big flies like i want to so think i will pick up a 8wt. most likely will get a package deal because of the money i would save by doing it. the only ones i have looked at are the ones from TFO which come in right at $200 and the ones from aleka which i can choose wither $140 or $240 and which most likely get the kit for $240. any other options in this price range?

I have a TFO BVK 8wt 9' which I like. However, I bought a Sage Flight (no longer being made by Sage-now it is the Response) in 7wt 9' on ebay for $150.00 and I really like it for bass here in Texas.
Just an idea but you might look for a used one as I did.
Cordially,
barham

Look into the Redington Crosswater rod and reel combo. But whatever you get, consider also upgrading to a line made specifically for throwing bass bugs.

I highly recommend the Albright XXT 8 weight at 149.99 and their GP reel at 39.99. I have the XXT 10 weight and it is a very powerful rod that will cast large bulky flies a long way. The XXT is a beautiful rod with exceptional components. I don't know too much about the GP reel, but it should be sufficient for bass. If you were possibly going to use the rod for saltwater, you'd be better off with the costlier GPX reel (99.99).
