Default Too Long of a Rod??

I just purchased a Redington Pursuit 7wt for going after some Carp here in Colorado this summer. I purchased the 4 piece, 10' 7wt. I'm pretty new to fly fishing but does 10' seem to long? I think the added length will be nice for chucking bigger flies and streamers into the wind but the more I think about it and the room I'll need to cast it - I started 2nd guessing my decision. Anyone got any experience with a 10' fly rod and it's casting ability?
