Default Cabelas L-Tech on Sale FYI

I own a 9' 4 weight L Tech I bought last year on sale....absolutely a beautiful casting dry fly rod....I reminded myself of that 2 weeks ago when I realized I enjoy this as much as my Sage XP (i have a 5 weight same length) whilst spending a memorable dryfly day on the Farmington River in CT. I noticed today its on sale for $129 vs $229 normal retail price. I figure i'd give a shout out to any fast action flyrod lovers....I can't speak to any other rod lengths or weights but this is an awesome rod for the sale price or even normal price for that matter. Just my .02

It is probably the reason an otherwise great rod is being given away at fire sale prices, that''s what it is.

L-Tech has been in the Cabela's line up for some years now.. The reel seat exposes the lower end of the blank... I own it in a 6wt and it is one heck of a rod... One of my favorites... My buddy has one in 5wt that he absolutely loves... He's the reason I gave them a shot... You'll be hard set to find a rod that compares at it's normal retail price... Let alone when it's on sale

thanks Walter!

Ive been looking at this rod for a while. The reel seat always intrigued me. Cashed in a few Cabela's bucks. Just ordered a 9ft 6wt 4pce. Looking forward to using it on the Lower Sacramento in N. Ca. I wish Cabela's offered a full replacement warranty, but 25 years if it breaks while actually fishing... not from the car door is still OK with me. Sometimes I think Id rather pay less for the rod and forgo the "unconditional" warranty anyway (or maybe even an option?), but I guess that's a whole other discussion.

This is a classic example of getting a little to far off the beaten path. Iíve had one of those in my hand several times over at the Boomtown store and as drawn as I am to the other elements of that rod. I just canít get past the lack of a reel seat spacer. The idea of my pricey reels, ď Hanginí Ten Ē from that hardware just bugs me. Maybe Iím to set in my ways, but to me, this is where great potential runs smack dab into some rod manufacturers beta testing wall.

Close, but no cigar. TT

I can certainly see that. Perhaps that explains low sales and perhaps they are just moving them out. Hope they use good adhesives! On the other hand I work for an airplane and submarine manu and how many items are "glued" together would give anyone the willies if testing didn't prove otherwise. I have had the cork rotate on a much more expensive rod, so cant say I havnt been warned!

Darn sales :-). Thinking about the 8 wt for beach and steel heading. Is the saltwater version worth extra $20? Seems like its pretty corrosion resistant as it is, maybe it's faster?

Also, any reel recommendation that doesn't break the bank but will balance well?
