Default 8 Wt. TFO Clouser

Do any of y'all have experience/ opinions on the TFO Clouser rod? What line are you using on it? I was considering getting a 6 Wt but may pop for an 8.

This may be a personal thing, but I am not a big fan of the Clouser rod. I tested it with a standard weight line and a half over weighted line. I could not get my timing down. I had to slow down my stroke more than I wanted to.

For throwing big heavies, I would rather have a faster rod.

Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the reply Dennis. I kinda prefer a faster stick myself. I tried an Echo Edge 84 in a 6 wt and didn't like it at all. I've got a friends and family discount coming at a major outdoor retailer and that (TFO) was one that was in my budget at this time. I looked at a Redington Predator at a local fly shop but haven't cast it either. Just from feel, it felt slower than the clouser.

I was looking for an 8 wt to huck big streamers and went and casted a few. Fell in love with the Grey's XF2 Carnivore. About 50 more bucks than the BVK, I payed 300 for the stick. It's smooth as butter and can huck the biggest weighted streamers out there farther than I ever thought my mediocre casting skills would allow. It gets my vote for mid price range rods.

I still haven't settled on anything yet, in fact, I'm trying to fend off this new rod bug. A buddy of mine texted me over the weekend a really good price on his Scadden pontoon. Hard to hide that one from momma though, it won't fit into my rod case.
