Default New bass rod suggestion

So I'm in the market for a new bass rod. I will mainly be smallmouth fishing. I don't have any particular price range. Any suggestions are appreciated .Thanks!!

Here are a few questions that need to be answered?

1. What kinds of waters are you fishing? Rivers, streams, lakes, ponds?
2. What kind of size fish will you be fishing for?
3. What size flies do you intend to throw at these fish?
4. Are there any chances that you will be fishing for largemouth, stripers, or wipers?

The reality is that one can use anything from an eight foot four weight to a nine foot eight weight. My preferences for the waters that I fish for smallmouth are nine foot five and six weights.

Sorry, should have been more specific. I will be medium-small stream fishing for smallmouth averaging 12". I have caught many 15"+ fish too, biggest being 19". I will mainly be throwing poppers, sneaky petes, clousers, and various other streamers.

Everyone always says "It's the size of the flies not the size of the fish that determines the rod" and with bass that is very, very true.

So you listed some flies all of which require more rod that if you were just fishing buggers.

So what size poppers? SPs? Clousers? Are the clousers gonna be heavily weighted?

For the fish you're targeting, and from rods I have experience with, I'd go with one of the following:

9' 6WT Sage Z-Axis
8'6" 5WT Orvis Hydros Tip-Flex
8'6" 4WT St. Croix Legend Elite (SCV build)

I'd use the Sage if I knew I was going to be throwing big flies. The St. Croix for days when I thought I'd be casting mostly briminators, buggers, and small Clousers because panfish were on the radar even though bass were around. The Orvis for days I thought I might try to do both, or didn't know the water I'd be fishing very well.

I'd be fishing the Sage most of the time when Bass were my main target. I really love that rod.

That's my bass rod with an Okuma SLV reel and Lefty Kreh WF. Great combo and it slings size 6 Hellgrammites well. SF

Winston B2MX 9'6" 6wt. It is my streamer rod and "bass" rod even tough we don't have any monster bass here in CO.
