Rod Recommendations

Ok guys, 1 more dilema. Based on some advice from others, I am considering the following rods in addition to the Sage SLT (scott G2, the Winston BII x, Sage A-axis or ZLT). I am a little concerned about the flex of the SLT, but I can get one for $350, as opposed to one of the others for $675. My problem is I am unable to cast the SLT, so I can not see if it fits my casting style. Is it worth the price difference to see which of the other rods fits my casting style, or is the SLT versatile enough to fit any style, and such a bargain that it makes its purchase a no-brainer.
Thanks again for all of your EXPERT advise!!

Re: Rod Recommendations

To me, the SLT and the ZLT are more a medium action where as the others are fast.
I have the BIIx and I absolutely love it. Fast, but the tip is for lack of a better word, SNAPPY.
I am not familiar with the Scott, so I won't even go there.
I am seriously looking into the ZLT myself. I have a LL that has got its place as a go to rod and I want that same feel in an 8'6" 5wt.
I am battling between the Joan Wulff Winston and the ZLT. The reason I will more than likely go with the Z is cause I can get a blank and my old man builds beautiful rods so I know I would get exactly what I want.

The Sage ZXL will feel similar to the SLT, though will be a bit faster and should feel a bit lighter.

The G2 will be noticeably slower than the SLT.

The Z-Axis will be much faster than the SLT.

I haven't cast that RLW

Re: Rod Recommendations

My SLT is more of a Medium Fast rod but I really like fishing this wonder rod. I have a 6wt Sage VPS that is also Medium Fast. That rod I can cast 70-90 ft when I concentrate. I used to think that I needed fast rods but I find that I much prefer medium fast action better now that I can cast more efficiently than before. I'm no expert but I've feel that fast rods are hard on light tippets with modest or big fish. I'm interested in testing a 5 wt Z axis as well to replace my fast 5 wt Winston Vapor.
