Default Help me choose a fly rod.

So, I posted earlier that I was looking for 6 wt. Well, I think I have it narrowed down between two. I have decided I would for sure like a 10' 6 wt. The two I have narrowed it down between are the Allen Xa and the Echo Ion. Anybody with opinions on either of these rods, in the specific lengths and weights, please chime in. Also looking at some reels too, but think I will support Allen on that one.

i own a 10' 3 weight xa that is an absolute gem to fish.
i would surmise that the 10' 6 would be equally nice.
as for a reel, the new kraken 2 (5-7) would be nice

Both choices sound good to me. I've never fished an Allen, but I used to own an Echo 9' 7 weight. Although I enjoyed the Echo, my brother enjoyed it more. I traded it to him for an unused Mitchell 400 series reel packed in its original case.

I've pretty much transitioned back to fiberglass rods. However, the only graphite, non saltwater rod I continue to use is a 10' 6 weight LL Bean Double L. It is a medium action rod that I like to use to make those long 90+ casts in crystal clear lakes. One thing about LL Bean...you can't beat their guarantee.

I think you'll be hard-pressed to find many negative comments about either of those choices. I've not cast either of them, but from everything I've read both are outstanding values.
