Default Scott G Series fly rods.

I have an opportunity to get a Scott "G" 8'8" 2wt. I have no idea about Scott product or this rod. It's a 2pc which I want more for 'gill fishing than anything else. Any help would be much appreciated.

The G is a pleasure to cast when it's not windy....a 2wt will be convenient for little fish on dry or ultra light nymph....
fysh and mcnerney like this.

Love the Scott G2. My go to rod for a small / mid sized stream is a 8'4" 4wt G2.
I can imagine that the 2wt will be nice but might get affected by wind.

Did you get the rod? I would love to play with that two weight. I am a big Scott G fan, my G904 is my favorite rod. The Scott G series is a cult dry fly rod right in there with the old Winstons. If you like slow-medium actions, you'll like the Scott.

The guy I'm doing a trade with shipped it Monday and said it would be here Wednesday. Looking forward to giving it a try. from what I have read there is a following of sorts for the "G" series Scott's. Never had one so I am looking forward to getting it, comes with a Galvan Torque 3 and line. Ready to go!

Finally got the rod, 882. Very cool old school rod. It is in like new condition along with a Galvin Torque T3 and Hardy 2wt dt f line. Looking forward to trying it out. From what I have read it is a very slow action so slowing down my casting is in order.

I'm sure you are going to love that rod. My Scott G2 4 wt is just a beautiful rod to cast, like JP says, when the wind isn't blowing.

I was playing with it last night checking the bend and such. I think you are right about wind, the line is thin. The guy put Hardy 2WT-DT-F line on it. Was wondering if anyone knows about this line or could suggest a better line for this rod.

You can't go wrong with a Cortland Peach line on a Scott G-series rod.
