Default PHWFF-Vintage Fiberglass Fly Rod Auction

PHWFF-NYC Legacy Program: The Travers Vintage Fiberglass Fly Rod Collection: Part 1

[I have posted this under "News" at the top of the Forum page with little response so am re-posting in our beloved Rod Forum to, hopefully, more directly reach the fly rod aficionados among us.]

http://www.ebay.com/itm/171183041691

The NYC based Program of National, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing has organized an eBay Giving Works auction of donated classic fiberglass fly rods. The proceeds are earmarked to take veterans with disabilities who have been active in the Program on the fly fishing trip of a lifetime. Please bid generously in support of this terrific cause. Thank you.

Boz if you or anyone else (RipTide?) have detailed knowledge about these rods (I have never seen another Ted Williams Special!) I will send it along to the volunteer responsible for setting this up on eBay to enhance its potential value to someone considering receiving these rods for a donation to PHWFF-NYC. Thank you.

That Ted Williams rod should be a top-of-line Shakespeare but I was actually more interested in the red rod with the sleeve ferrule
It doesn't look "homemade" to me and it's obviously a quality rod

The Ted Williams has similar tape scars on it like the Shakespeare's but a slightly brighter tone of white. It says "Model No. 535-30471 8' 0" " on it. None of these would be home rolled jobs and they were all purchased new in their day by their now deceased owner. There are additional lots to follow these including Martin's, Fenwick's and more which I will post upon availability but I like this batch.

In this auction, the winner will receive two rods:

A two-piece 8' red fiberglass rod, unlabelled, which looks homemade. Cork, wrap, guides are all in very good condition and immediately fishable. Feels to be about a seven weight.
A Sears Ted Williams, 535-30471, 8' seven weight with white / orange / brown guide wraps. Cork, guides etc. all in great condition.

Hey Rip, I only photographed them...I did not even know this pair was up on eBay! The man who fished all these rods did so mainly in the Catskills and largely on the Esopus. So it is entirely possible that some one in Phoenicia, at Folkerts perhaps, rolled some custom rods. I like the silver under-wraps on this one.

Looks like a factory rod to me.
Maybe an OEM that was never labeled by the retailer.
I have a guess....but I'd be wrong
