Default Best TFO Rod for trout (5 WT)

Whats the best trout set-up with TFO. I have a large prism reel, but looking at a solid rod. I can always update the reel.

Depends on what action you like med, med-fast, fast or ultra fast.

Are you using this rod for "all around" or dries, hoppers, streamers, nymphs. The purpose of the rod as far as application will help identify which is "best" for you. Some would say the Sage Method or One is their "best" rod, but if am fishing little dries on little streams exclusively then my older ZXL is the best one for me.

Not a brand thing

TFO Finesse = Slow

TFO BVK = Fast

just trying to identify besides trout, are you fishing big rivers , small streams, ponds, windy areas etc etc.

I will be by Chama and southern Colorado. Mainly rivers biggest being the San Juan. The mangrove series didn't look bad.

I got my son in law the tfo finesse rod for his first fly rod. It reminds me of my redington ct rod. I also have a pro series tfo 8'6" 4wt. The 8'6" has more flex than the 9' rod I got my daughter. It would be nice if you could cast some rods before you buy. I also have the 5wt 9' tfo pro series, it is stiff/ fast action rod.

Thumbs down Re: Best TFO Rod for trout (5 WT)

For the price of the mangrove,240.00,you can do better than a tfo rod.Sage,winston,redington,st.croix,all within that price range, possibly 20 to 40 dollars more.Remember you get what you pay for.

for an all around rod. the trout wt mangroves are great! but me being a streamer junkie i would go straight for a 5wt clouser or axiom.
