Default Redington Rod opinion

This isn't a question of Redington vs. "X" but rather strictly withing the Redington line of rods.

I got a great price on an entry level Crosswater combo. The rod feels very comfortable to me and I like the action. So where my question is will the other higher grade moderate-fast action Redington rods give me the same kind of performance/feel or do I need to take any rod, regardless of make or action, on an individual basis?

With any rod company they have different models that offer different characteristics and feel. Some will usually be fuller flexing (slow) moderated flex (med fast) or fast (tip flexing.) So yes when you change models you will encounter a different feel. Most,,if not all, fly fishermen will tell you,,handle a rod first IF you can,,,that will give you some idea of the feel. CAST it first if the shop will let you,,that will give you MORE idea of the rods individual feel.

Redington makes good rods,,I like them a lot.
All the romance of trout fishing exists in the mind of the angler and is in no way shared by the fish.

I got into fly fishing rather late in life about 15 years ago. I basically learned to cast with a Crosswater 6wt 9ft and a matching graphite reel. I have many other rods now but the old Reddington still casts well.
If you decide on another rod, buy what feels good to you and not what someone else tells you should have.
After all, there are no rules in our hobby and its about having fun.
