Hi McFly,

Looks like a good outfit. I will be interested in how you compare it to your 6wt Martin setup.

The Professional rods are very nice sticks. They cast well and have a great warranty. They did not scrimp on putting them together. Not the best lookers but then again, I don't think those things matter. The action is what matters and these have it down. You will like this rod.

I just got an 8" 2wt Professional. For such a light weight rod I'm amazed at how well I can toss the bigger wooly buggers and semi-seals. Obviously, I can't get the distance that I can get with my 4wt but it loads and casts really well.

Really looking forward to using it on small streams, it's intended purpose.

My only rod is a TFO 9ft. 5 wt. 4 pc. professional and I love it. I can cast easily with it and have pulled in some 2lb fish with it. Not bad, I think I need an 8wt. now so I can cast some of my larger flies

I must say I heartily disagree with that statement.

When someone first starts flyfishing I would say that having a bunch of rods is a bad thing. They need to master the mechanics of the cast, the mend, the feel, etc etc. Trying to learn on a bunch of different feeling rods will not lend itself to consistency or a good learning curve.

Use one main rod, maybe two and get it all down before you start buying a full quiver.

curtis is right. don't go wild. what I meant to say is if ya need one for different applications it might be a good idea to invest in a different rod size. then after awhile after mastering that you can upgrade and know what works best in different situations. I guess I did the opposite. its been a crappy winter here and I haven't gotten out for while to fish! I am itching and I been buying stuff up like crazy for fishing! I have a 3wt and a 5wt I never tried yet cause the weather and I am also working on the parts for the 7wt!! basically if ya do need a upgrade and you can afford it i'd say go for it. I know around here the 5/6wt 1st got wouldn't work for the big steelies around here so I had to get a 8wt for them.
