Default Pike Fly Rod

I know you guys aren't into heavy weights for your pike BUT getting BIG flies out I'm looking at 9 and 10 weights... there are good deals on TFO Lefty Kreh's in the UK and ST Croix are just being distributed full time...

What 9ft 9 or 10 weight would you go for and why?

Cheers

David

I use a sceirra BW2 8/9 .But look at your line as well you need a line with a short head this turns the fly over and gives you the abilaty to treet a large mass of rabbit fur like a small dry fly.
I am including the info about the line as I diden,t know this for the first year off fly fishing for Pike and could not figure out why I could only cast half the line out.
Tight lines

I've been using Cortland Pro Pike WF10F sooooooooooo casting BIG tandems ain't a problem... and I'll be getting the Guideline Pike Int 3 WF10. So not worried about the line just the rod choice!!

Look at Vision GT four SW medium fast 9#10, or Guideline LPXe RS 9#10.
I use the GT four SW 8 1/2#9 rod with a floating Guideline pike taper #9.
Last time i went to the Baltic coast we had the wind blowing in from Poland at 33 mph. Luckily the place we use to fish has some small rock islands that breaks the waves (but not the wind). I was able to hammer my "nine inch nails" all day,at least when not having the wind right in my face.

In a test in one of the Swedish fly fishing magazines last year, the top rod was the Scierra pike #8/9, loaded with a SA pike/musky taper #10. It was two Pike fishermen who carried out the test, one of them a former Guidline staff member.

Thanks for that... What were the other rods tested?
